The Governing body discusses all aspects of the school and is involved in policy-making.  In addition, committees discuss particular issues in more detail and then report back to the main Governor meetings.  Governors are selected to deal with staff appointments.  The Governors are also responsible for the financial performance of the school and monitor expenditure over the course of the year.

Governors represent different interests involved in the school: parents, the local authority, are the local community.  Some are elected by their peers and others are co-opted by the governors.
